Principal/Licensed Interior Designer/
LEED Accredited Professional
With more than 25 years of experience developing interior environments for a large range of projects—from office and retail to religious, educational and public facilities—Dawn Newman is motivated by diverse challenges and inspired by each new client.
Dawn’s creative drive stretches back to her childhood. As soon as she could hold a pencil, she was learning to draw. Her passion for art and design grew with her and when she arrived at Northern Illinois University a counselor suggested she take an Interior Architecture class to satisfy her creative side. “That semester, I took Introduction to Interior Architecture and realized I had found my future,” Dawn says. “Now, I feel so lucky to be able to say I love my job.”
A favorite part of her job is building relationships with clients, gaining an understanding of their needs and desires, and ensuring that each design fits the unique personality of each company. “It doesn’t matter how small or large your project is, I will be there with you from beginning to end,” says Dawn. “I also want to be there when you do your next project and the project after that. I still work with many of my first clients and feel fortunate to call many of them friends.”
As a designer who has long been committed to enhancing the environment, Dawn seeks out materials and finishes that are environmentally friendly. She feels so strongly about “Green Design,” and leaving her sons with a healthier world, that she became a LEED accredited professional.
Dawn says it’s her creative energy and range of experience that keeps her ideas innovative and fresh. “From start to finish, every project is exciting to me,” she says. “Helping people realize their vision is what it’s all about. There’s nothing else that I would rather be doing.”
