ST. MICHAEL ANNOUNCES RENOVATION PLANS
ORLAND PARK, IL – St. Michael Parish will replace its current two-story rectory with a two-story, 14,000 square foot Parish Center to better serve its parishioners and the community. The Parish Center includes a multi-purpose/gymnasium, a meeting room and parish offices. The priest home will be located off-site.
In addition, a new drop-off area will be provided at the entry to the church, allowing a hearse or other service vehicle to pull off of Highland Avenue and not block traffic. Significant landscaping will also be added along Highland, and landscaped islands will be provided throughout the main parking lot.
St. Michael is working with Newman Architecture of Naperville on the redesign. Principal Architect Leanne Meyer-Smith reports the change will be both functional and attractive.
“This addition will connect the church to the school and will unify the campus appearance by utilizing both the brown brick from the church as well as the blond brick from the commons building,” she explains.
The Reverend Michael Hack, pastor of St. Michael, adds that the benefits of the renovation will reach far beyond the parish walls.

“Since St. Michael’s has been a part of the community for 140 years,” he notes. “As the community has grown and the parish ministries have grown, it will be a positive result of faith and community working together,” he says.
“I am also personally excited about the project,” Hack enthusiastically adds. “It shows the continued growth of faith in this area, and opens up many more outreach opportunities St. Michael’s can do with more modern-day facilities.”
